Born in Alexandria, Virginia, Renee came to Richmond by way of V.C.U. in 1986. “I majored in painting and printmaking but actually never finished”. She instead dropped out and decided to pursue a career in camera repair. “I had always been around cameras and photography and I guess I figured I needed a way to support myself”. After graduating school in Spokane, Washington, she received an Associates Degree in Photography Equipment Technology. “I landed a job in Phoenix, Arizona but soon made my way back to Richmond. That was 1992”. In 2003, after the decline of the camera repair industry, Renee joined Old World Prints.
“I had actually gone back to school for landscape design and became a certified landscape designer in the summer of 2003, but I needed a way to support myself as I got my business going. The thing is, I have absolutely enjoyed working for Old World Prints, so much so I haven’t worked on my landscape design. It has been such a joy to be creative again and to be around such a creative and energetic group of designers”.
